ILDC for CJPE: Indian Legal Documents Corpus for Court Judgment Prediction and Explanation
ACL-IJCNLP 2021
What it adds
Introduces an Indian Supreme Court corpus linking binary outcomes to case documents, with a small expert-annotated subset for studying explanations. It asks whether predictive models select the same supporting passages as legal readers.
Read with this limitation
Evaluation uses random splits and only 56 cases have expert explanations. Inputs are retrospective court documents with final-decision sections removed. Outcome prediction and passage selection therefore do not establish prospective case forecasting or legally valid reasoning.
